CARE GUIDE

Your Talking Hands pieces are handcrafted — treat them with intention. Follow these guidelines and your crochet will age beautifully for years.

Washing

Hand wash only in cool water (max 30°C). Never machine wash — agitation breaks down the fibres.
Use a gentle, pH-neutral detergent or baby shampoo. Avoid bleach or fabric softeners entirely.
Submerge the piece gently and press the water through — do not wring, twist, or scrub.
Rinse thoroughly until the water runs clear, then press out excess water with flat palms.

Never hang crochet to dry — the weight of wet yarn stretches the structure permanently.
Lay the piece flat on a clean dry towel and reshape it to its original dimensions.
Dry away from direct sunlight and heat sources, which can fade colour and weaken fibres.
Allow 12–24 hours to dry completely before folding or wearing.

Fold and store flat — never hang crochet on a hanger for extended periods.
Keep in a breathable cotton or linen bag. Avoid plastic, which traps moisture and causes mildew.
Add a cedar block nearby to deter moths naturally — avoid mothballs, which leave harsh odours.
Store away from prolonged light exposure to prevent fading over time.

If a stitch snags or unravels, do not pull the loose yarn — secure it immediately with a safety pin.
Small holes or dropped stitches can be re-worked with a crochet hook and matching yarn.
